WINTER TIPS FOR HOMEOWNERS

As we enter the winter months, now is the time to follow these top tips from the National Association of Home Builders to get your home winter ready!

Preventative maintenance may avert future emergencies or costly repair and heating bills!

•    Block drafts around doors, windows and baseboards with weather stripping, window film and caulking to control heat loss.

•    Check for gaps in insulation that can expose pipes to cold air and lead to freezing.

•    Inspect the dryer vent for debris.

•    Check smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector batteries.

•    Have your heating system serviced by a licensed technician.

•    Have your fireplace and chimney inspected and serviced.

While you are preparing your home for winter, now is a good time to also plan for and schedule your spring home projects. Spokane Home Builders Association (SHBA) members are proven professionals that, in addition to abiding by the Association’s Code of Ethics, are required to meet all state and local registration and licensing requirements.
