Are we guilty of saying certain things need to be adhered to & not doing those things ourselves? This is the example of a hypocrite. Many religious people of Jesus's day told others what they needed to do but would not keep those principles themselves. Jesus said of them, “Do not do after their works: for they say, & do not.” One of these areas which is common today, is when we speak about others behind their backs. This is called Gossip or being a talebearer. The definition of talebearer is a person who maliciously gossips or reveals secrets. God says, “A talebearer reveals secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit - conceals the matter” & “Where there is no talebearer, the strife stops” & again “The words of a talebearer are as wounds.” Let us not be guilty of such behavior, rather let us determine to be those faithful who will not slander others. Mankind has been separated from God by sin, which is the breaking of God's Laws, but God has provided a way for us to be at peace with Him through His Son Jesus Christ.
