 RACE PROMOTER POLLOCK PASSES AWAY

Ted Pollock, one of the premier auto racing promoters in the Pacific Northwest, passed away Dec. 8 in Vancouver, Wash.

Pollock, in his late 80s when he died, was the former owner-operator of Yakima Speedway until it was sold in 2021 and torn down, paving the way for industrial development.

“He had a hand in Yakima Speedway for 60-plus years”, motorsports journalist Doug Pace writes in a text message. “Many great promoter/managers in racing worked for Ted including Ron Bennett, Dennis Williams and Doug Beteral.”

Wayne Walden, who promoted Tri City Raceway in the 1970’s and 80’s wrote in a Facebook post, “Ted was a great friend and helped me so much when I was operating TCR. We worked great together sharing classes of race cars, he was so knowledgeable of the promotion of a racetrack.

Details for any memorial or funeral service were not available at deadline time.
