SHBA – Members Receive State & National Recognition

Shba members receive state and
national recognition

Our members have been working hard and have accomplished some amazing things this past year.

During last fall’s Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW) Board Meeting held here in Spokane, our very own Deacon Band with Band Construction was named BIAW’s 2019 Remodeler of the Year. Deacon is a Past President of the Spokane Home Builders Association (SHBA) Board and an active participant with the BIAW. During the past two years, he has been the SHBA Education Committee Chair and took on that same title at BIAW in 2019. He has been a key figure in developing a series of educational courses for our members to help them adapt to regulations and become better at managing their operations.

Another member was recently recognized for their work this past year at the annual International Builders Show (IBS) held in January in Las Vegas. The IBS is designed to provide education and awareness for builders, remodelers, and other building industry professionals coming from businesses around the globe. The benefits for attending the show are endless; by attending, our members were given the opportunity to spend time with like-minded people, swap stories and ideas, and hear firsthand about what is to come in our industry, including design trends and a first-hand look at new building materials.

The show also includes award ceremonies where National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) members were recognized for their dedication and love of their craft. SHBA member Nick Scheel with Untamed Construction was honored with not one, but two awards at the IBS! Nick was named the NAHB Remodeler’s Council “One to Watch” and NAHB “Region E – Young Professional of the Year.”  Nick has been involved in the Association since 2010, and in that time, Nick has given back to his industry in a number of ways; including serving as a Past SHBA President, a chair of numerous committees and by volunteering countless hours to support the building industry at the national, state and local level.

The SHBA is incredibly proud of these two incredible individuals and will be celebrating their involvement for years to come. In addition, both Nick and Deacon are members of the SHBA Remodeler’s Council. If you are looking for help or guidance for an upcoming remodeling project, be sure to reach out to us to find a member of the Remodeler’s Council to serve as your contractor on your next home renovation project.

We encourage you to contact the SHBA for any of your home building (and remodeling) needs, as we want to be the bridge that connects you to your future forever home.
